By now, you may have read or heard about a lawsuit filed this week against me and the diocese. I want to offer you this update. 

I am taking this matter seriously and my plan is to vigorously challenge these allegations.

 We know that the legal system works deliberately, and with good reason. I welcome a thorough examination of these allegations, but this will take some time.

 We have more than 800 good people working in our diocese— priests, deacons, teachers, lay ministers, and staff. Like you, their lives are filled with joys, burdens, and responsibilities, I am grateful for their good efforts.

 For all you do at your parish and for this diocese, thank you* Remember that God is good and your faith in Him is what matters most.
 I pray always that God's blessings and the peace of Jesus be with you.
